Engaged! | Litchfield, CT Photographer

Meet Karalyn and Rich. These two lovebirds are getting married in September and I get to photograph their wedding! I am so excited! Not only are these two such down to earth, sweet  people and wonderful to work with but their wedding is in the Acadia National Park region in Maine. What a gorgeous place to get married, I am really looking forward to shooting this destination wedding!

I’ve been to Acadia 10 years ago with my then new husband, we took a ride in his old Acura with no air conditioning our tongues lolling out of the windows in the New England scorching summer heat) making stops along the way to dunk ourselves into any water puddle we saw from the road to cool off. It was my husband’s first camping adventure and he was not impressed, lol! The camp was very basic, no showers, just tent sites with fire pits. We slept on hard mats and were freezing at night in our thin sleeping bags from Walmart. I don’t remember if we made a fire but I do remember a lovely restaurant we dined at and the amazing nature we got to hike through. Oh… the memories of life before kids 🙂

This time we are planning ahead. We will be staying at the lovely Crocker House Country Inn which is owned by Rich’s parents and will be hosting the wedding festivities. We heard all about the New England charm of this little gem and the food is supposed to be wonderful. We are both very excited to spend a few days there and my Assistant/Husband is especially looking forward to the food of course. I never get to spend more than a few hours at the wedding venue during a wedding so I am looking forward to getting to know this place inside and out beforehand. This should give me some great ideas for spots to take the bride and groom for their wedding portraits.

Karalyn and Rich met at St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH. So, when I asked them where they’d like to get their Engagement Portraits done they chose their Alma mater. The campus in Spring was beautiful, all blooming trees and cool brick buildings. We went early morning to avoid crowds and the weather was perfect. We even got some pictures done in the library. But enough of my rambling. Why don’t you scroll down if you haven’t already and enjoy a glimpse into the loving relationship of soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Malaby.

Spring Cleaning | Connecticut Maternity Photographer

The sun is shining outside as I write this and I feel such a twitch to go out and start cleaning my garden. We bought our house last fall so I have no idea where any spring bulbs might be planted besides the ones I planted myself last minute before the ground froze. But I do know that my property needs a lot of work! Raking the old grass, cutting the shrubs, dispersing tick tubes to control the tick problem we have here. And yes, trying to keep the deer off our property. Any tips on deer repellents are appreciated!

But enough about my garden. Lots of news on the photography side of things as well. I will release a few exciting announcements in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned. For now my spring cleaning urges resulted in a brand new website! Please take a look! After two years of enjoying my old site I decided to give my website a makeover. What do you think? I love the collage view that greets visitors upon opening the site. Clicking on any image will bring you into a single image view and you can start a slideshow by clicking on the play button in the left bottom corner. Clicking on the image again will bring you back to collage view. I think that’s a nice way to browse.

Last month I had a wonderful opportunity to photograph several maternity sessions at the amazing Mayflower Inn & Spa in Washington, CT. The place is a photographer’s dream with its full length windows for soft light, indoor pool, clean upscale decor and charming antique guest rooms with huge four poster beds. The grounds are equally beautiful. Take a peek at these images and soak it all in!

Thank you so much Kelly! The place is truly amazing, I was sad I couldn’t take a dip in the pool and hot tub 🙂 When you go next time you can come visit me, I live 15 minutes from there.

Stunning photos! Gerry and I have been to the Mayflower a couple times and the spa is breathtaking, isn’t it? Your photos completely captured the beauty of both the women and the location.

Relocated | Bethlehem, CT Photographer

My dear Friends and Clients,

It’s very bittersweet for me to announce our  move from North Andover, MA where we spent the last 9 years to Bethlehem, CT. It’s sweet to move from a rented apartment to a beautiful house of our own. But it’s bitter to leave behind friends, places we loved and happy memories.

I will continue to commute to MA for portrait sessions on a monthly basis. If you are interested in my services please contact me well ahead of time to schedule as my flexibility will now be limited.

Happy Holidays Everyone!
